Who Are We

We are your neighbors, friends, and co-workers, people from the Town of Ithaca community serving on the Town of Ithaca Democratic Committee (TOIDC). We represent the Democratic voters in the Town of Ithaca – the suburban/rural area outside the city of Ithaca, the bridge between the city and the rest of Tompkins County. The Town of Ithaca surrounds the city on three hills, and includes parts of the Cornell campus, Ithaca College, East Hill Plaza, Cayuga Heights, and many other neighborhoods.

We are elected, by petition, to represent the enrolled Democrats in the town to the larger party organization. We strive to represent diverse interests to further progressive and democratic principles. We are committed to reaching out to the community to inform, engage, and respond. You can see a list of current members, and contact us, here.

The Town of Ithaca Democratic Committee, together with the other town and city ward committees in the county, make up the Tompkins County Democratic Committee which elects members to the New York State Democratic Committee, which in turn is part of the Democratic National Committee.

What We Do

General Meetings

Our members meet frequently, usually every other month, to plan and discuss ongoing projects. The public is invited to join the meetings with information posted on our Facebook page and the Tompkins County Democratic Committee website.

Going door-to-door in our neighborhoods, carrying nominating petitions or distributing campaign literature for candidates is a major activity.

Voter Registration Drives

We participate in voter registration drives within the town or with other town or ward committees.

Democratic Candidate Public Forums

Our committee holds public candidate forums for local elections and develops campaign literature.

Our Facebook page provides updates on TOIDC Meeting information, pertinent events related to Tompkins County Democratic Committee and other community-wide political events. It is the best place to reach us if you have questions or would like to get involved.
